Iran sets up work group to investigate British embassy attack

PanARMENIAN.Net - According to Tehran Governor General Morteza Tamaddon, the Interior Ministry of Iran has established a working group committee to investigate the British embassy incident.

After a demonstration held to protest against London’s hostile policies toward Iran in front of the British Embassy in Tehran, a number of Iranian students from various universities entered the British Embassy compound and pulled down the Union Jack, MEHRNEWS reported.

Iran's Foreign Ministry Tuesday, November 29, expressed regret over the "unacceptable" storming of the British embassy in Tehran, which police said would lead to prosecutions for those who took part.

"The relevant authorities have been asked to take the necessary measures and look into this issue immediately," it said.

The ministry stressed the Iranian government's "commitment to protecting the rights of diplomats and diplomatic locations," and promised to follow up the incident "through legal and relevant channels."

Tehran police chief General Hossein Sajadinia said that several protesters who had entered the British embassy had been arrested and would be handed over to the courts.
