Armenian President aims to improve Armenian NPP safety levelDecember 6, 2011 - 15:50 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Due to Armenian President’s efforts, Council on the Nuclear Energy Safety was founded in Armenia in 1996; works have been carried out to bring Armenian NPP safety level in line with European and U.S. ones, the council chairman said. “Great assistance is extended in the framework of international cooperation with European Union and IAEA; nuclear power plant safety is at an appropriate level,” Adolf Birkhofer (Germany) told at 12th Council meeting. Mr. Birkhofer further noted that issues related to RA president’s views on atomic energy development in the country, improving Armenian NPP safety level, as well as international cooperation in the sector was on the meeting agenda.
