EURO 2012 Stadium in Warsaw put into operation

PanARMENIAN.Net - Last weekend National Stadium in Warsaw, constructed for EURO 2012 matches, hosted the opening ceremony. Warsaw arena, official venue for the opening match between Poland and Portugal, is the last EURO 2012 stadium that was put into operation.

On December, 15 National Stadium obtained official operating grant that was preceded by positive conclusions of firefighter service and sanitary-and-epidemiologic institution. “We are extremely happy because after 2.5 years of construction works finally came that day, and we received this very important document, therefore, National Stadium in Warsaw can be operated,” said Rafal Kapler, the CEO of National Sports Center during the opening ceremony.

Although the main Poland’s arena is opened, it’s not ready to host football matches. The prime reason is absence of the football lawn. It’s scheduled to finish the lawn at the National Stadium in Warsaw till April, 30. However, it would be laid earlier, till the middle of the January, 2012 because Legia Warsaw and Wisla Krakow will play the Super Cup of Poland on February, 11. Also Poland national team scheduled it first match on the new arena on February, 29.

The 60 thousand capacity venue, National Stadium will host opening match, quarterfinal and semifinal of EURO 2012, and it is constructed on the right bank of the river Vistula. It’s structure distinguished by a variety of innovational decisions. So, arena has a unique retractable PVC roof. The total superficies of the building is 200.000 square meters including the roof that have an area of 4 hectares, including the retractable part, euro-2012news.com reported.
