World Economic Forum kicks off in Davos

PanARMENIAN.Net - Around 40 government leaders and over 1,600 business executives are among the 2,600 participants who will descend on the exclusive ski resort of Davos on Jan 25 for the biggest 5-day gathering of the wealthy and the powerful, the World Economic Forum.

Many key players working to resolve the euro crisis will be in Davos, including French Finance Minister Francois Baroin, European Central Bank President Mario Draghi, International Monetary Fund chief Christine Lagarde, EU Economic Commissioner Olli Rehn and Klaus Regling, chief executive of the euro-zone bailout fund. From the UK, Prime Minister David Cameron and Chancellor George Osborne will attend.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and International Atomic Energy Agency chief Yukiya Amano are also expected to attend.

The motto of this year’s World Economic Forum is “The great transformation: Shaping new models”, with the participants to focus the discussions on the future of capitalism and set the global economic agenda for the next year.
