PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian grandmaster Vladimir Akopian beat Marin Bosiocic (Croatia) at tournament A of Aeroflot Open Chess Festival 2012, ongoing in Moscow.

Meanwhile Hrant Melkumyan and Karen Grigoryan lost to Jorge Cori (Peru) and Zhou Jianchao (China) respectively.

After the 1st round, Akopian comes 6th with 1 point.

About 10 Armenian chess players will perform in tournaments B and C. The last competition day of the festival is scheduled for February 17.

The festival prize fund totals 125.000 euro. The three tournaments (A, B, C) will be held in 9 rounds in line with contenders’ ranking points. Rankings above 2550 are required for the tournament group A, which usually brings together extra class chess players.
