Ex-leader Mubarak appears in Egyptian court February 8, 2012 - 16:07 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Former Egyptian president Hosny Mubarak appeared in court Wednesday, February 8 after staying away for one hearing because of bad weather, state-run media reported. Mubarak, 83, showed up in court lying on a gurney, and was briefed by judge Ahmed Refaat on the proceedings of the session he missed on Tuesday, reported the semi-official newspaper Al Ahram. Mubarak, who has been held at a military hospital on the outskirts of Cairo since August, is usually transferred by helicopter to the Police Academy, where the trial is taking place. Dusty winds on Tuesday reduced visibility in the Egyptian capital. Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim said at the weekend that Mubarak would be transferred to the Torah prison hospital, after protests from opponents of the ousted president, M&C reported quoting DPA. Mubarak, former interior minister Habib al-Adli, and six security aides are charged with ordering the killing of at least 846 protesters during the revolt that eventually forced the president to step down last year. They could face the death penalty, if convicted. Their lawyers have until February 16 to present their closing arguments.
