Hackers attack Malaysia’s stock market website

PanARMENIAN.Net - The website of Malaysia’s stock market was hit with a cyber attack on Tuesday, February 14 making the site inaccessible to users due to excess traffic from multiple sources, the country’s exchange reported in a statement.

Bursa Malaysia said many of its users were not able to access the website late Monday due to the congestion.

“Contingency measures were activated to provide continued access to the website,” it said.

It added that some of its international users may still not be able to access the site Tuesday, but users within the country were not expected to experience any disruption.

Bursa Malaysia said its other systems were not affected by the attack and trading in its securities, derivatives and Islamic markets continued normally.

It is unclear who was responsible for the attack on the market, but it appears the country will not see long term ill-effects as a result, BM reported.
