100 kg of 20% uranium enriched at Iran’s nuclear site

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Fereydoun Abbasi said generation of indigenous fuel would affect the results of negotiation with P5+1, ISNA reported.

Abbasi in his interview with al-Alam News Network stressed that fuel exchange has been dealt with, adding the country would enjoy fuel transaction under the monitoring of the IAEA after providing the local needs.

He added investments in this regard have been made for the time being and its technology and know-how have been achieved indigenously, so "There is no need to exchange our fuel. We generate fuel by ourselves."

Regarding Iran's nuclear progress, Abbasi recommended the P5+1 to choose another way since the previous ones failed to succeed.

The Head of AEOI noted the country has achieved the capability to enrich uranium by 20 percent through centrifuge, continuing, "We can enrich uranium with proper quality and turn it into fuel complexes."

Abbasi went on to say Tehran reactor's fuel plate complex would lead to the country's reliance on Iranian-made fuel and help the country export fuel complexes or nuclear material in the future.

Regarding the question on the IAEA reports that the country has produced more than 100 kg of 20 percent enriched uranium and whether Iran possesses enough raw uranium for changing into fuel complex and, Abbasi stressed, "We can confirm the numbers presented by the IAEA, since our productions were under the monitoring of the agency experts. We have enriched 90-100 kg of 20 percent uranium in Natanz nuclear site."
