Tokyo String Quartet to perform in Yerevan in April

PanARMENIAN.Net - Yerevan Perspectives 13th International Music Festival will kick off on April 3, 2012.

Performance of the famous Tokyo String Quartet will open the festival, Yerevan Perspectives manager Sona Hovhannisyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

The Tokyo String Quartet performs on "the Paganini Quartet," a group of renowned Stradivarius instruments named for legendary virtuoso Niccolò Paganini, who acquired and played them during the 19th century.

The instruments have been on loan to the quartet from the Nippon Music Foundation since 1995, when they were purchased from the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.

Yerevan has a unique chance to see Tokyo String Quartet perform here, Hovhannisyan said.

The Festival will also feature pianist Evgeny Kissin, Hovhannisyan added.
