128 thous. tons of meat produced in Armenia in 2011

PanARMENIAN.Net - Consumers' Association NGO head said that drop in meat production was recoreded in Armenia in 2008-2009 amid global financial crisis.

According to Armen Poghosyan, Armenia imports agricultural product as the local is not sufficient.

“2011 saw 128 thous. tons of meat production in Armenia, the index grossed 117 thous. tons in 2007. With only with 3 % growth recorded in three years, local demands can’t be met,” Poghosyan said on March 3.

11 thousand tons of cattle, 6 thousand tons of pork and 280.5 kg of mutton were imported to Armenia over the past year.
