German FM: Syria on verge of humanitarian catastrophe

PanARMENIAN.Net - Syria is currently on the verge of humanitarian catastrophe, German Foreign Minister said.

“Germany stands ready to extend necessary assistance for salvation of the population,” Guido Westerwelle said at a joint press conference with his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian.

Calling on Assad’s regime to take measures aimed at averting civilians’ death, Minister Westerwelle stressed the importance of protection of minorities on Syrian territory.

According to Voice of America, the German Minister earlier said that "the collapse of the Assad regime has started and will continue. No country can be led with atrocity and oppression."
