CEC rejects opposition candidate bid

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Central Election Commission of Armenia refused to instigate administrative proceedings on oppositionist Khachatur Sukiasyan’s application, press service of the Central Election Commission of Armenia reported.

Oppositionist oligarch, supporter of Levon Ter-Petrossian, the leader of the Armenian National Congress (ANC), Khachatur Sukiasyan planned to run for the Armenian National Assembly in No. 10 single-mandate constituency of the capital.

Mr. Sukiasyan was refused in registration of his candidacy, citing the reason that he had not permanently resided in Armenia for the past five years.

It is noteworthy that president of Nushikyan Association Garegin Nushikyan will stand for parliament in the same constituency.
