Marilyn Manson, Johnny Depp team on “You're So Vain” cover![]() March 22, 2012 - 21:04 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Eccentric actor Johnny Depp and macabre rocker Marilyn Manson are teaming up on a cover of Carly Simon's 1972 hit You're So Vain. Speaking about the collaboration, Manson told MTV News that the song will appear as a bonus track on his upcoming studio album, Born Villain, which is due to drop in May. "We did a cover version together of a song which we thought was ironic for each other," Manson revealed. "He played drums and lead guitar, and I played guitar and sang. It's a bonus track on my record and the video will probably be us looking at each other like a mirror." And there's apparently more than one Depp featured on the track, too. "Johnny's son Jack - whose birthday I'm gonna be performing at - was in the room and he actually played on the song too. It's pretty cool," shared Manson. Depp and Manson have been pals for quite some time. A remix of Manson's song The Nobodies was featured in Depp's 2001 flick, From Hell, and the rocker accompanied Depp as his "date" to the premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest in 2006. But according to Manson, their friendship goes back even further. "I met Johnny when I was 19 when I was an extra on 21 Jump Street [which Depp starred in]," he added. "I bought his daughter her first pair of high heels when she was wearing diapers, so we've been friends for a long time." Their cover of You're So Vain - reputedly written about David Geffen, Warren Beatty or Mick Jagger - has yet to surface online, nzherald.co.nz said.
