ARMENIAN APOSTOLIC CHURCH CALLS CONGREGATION TO SPIRITUAL STRUGGLENovember 17, 2004 - 22:51 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - November 16 the participants of the sitting of the Spiritual Council of the Armenian Apostolic Church discussed the problems connected with the activities of the sectarian organizations and the registration of Jehovah's Witnesses by the Armenian Justice Ministry. The Supreme Spiritual Council confirmed its adherence to Christian values such as freedom of conscience, however stating inadmissible the situation with the registration of the religious organizations, the activities of which violate the RA legislation as well as freedom of conscience within their own organization. The activities of totalitarian sects including Jehovah's Witnesses not only conflict with spiritual values of the Armenian people but also violate the bill "On freedom of Conscience" and human rights such as children's rights, rights referring to public health, etc. Let us remind that the Justice Ministry registered Jehovah's Witnesses despite the fact that the Department for National Minorities and Religious Issues under the Armenian government in its expert decision has pointed out that a number of items of the organization regulations run counter to the bill "On freedom of Conscience". The registration of the Jehovah Witnesses caused deep resonance among the Armenian population.
