Resolution on Armenian Referendum to Be Submitted to PACE Bureau in January

PanARMENIAN.Net - PACE Monitoring Committee rapporteur on Armenia Georges Colombier in his report touched upon the constitutional referendum held November 27, 2005, chairman of the Armenian delegation to PACE, RA NA Vice Speaker Tigran Torosian said at a news conference today. In his words, Colombier's assessments coincided with those presented by the PACE observing mission. Tigran Torosian informed that a draft resolution was adopted o the issue. However he refrained form announcing the details, since the document still needs elaboration. It will be submitted to the PACE Bureau January 9, 2006. The principal provisions will refer to the number voters.



When touching upon the possible termination of the authority of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE T. Torosian noted that Azerbaijan's mandate in PACE may be questioned. In his words, PACE rapporteur on Azerbaijan Andres Herkel submitted a verbal report on the parliamentary election in Azerbaijan and the post-election situation in the republic. Herkel presented photos demonstrating collisions between the police and population during the election period. However, according to the vice speaker, since the report was verbal no relative decision followed. "It doesn't mean that the issue was removed from the agenda. It will be certainly raised at the next sitting," Torosian said, IA Regnum reported.
