NA European Integration Committee future work discussedJuly 18, 2014 - 14:36 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The EU Advisory Group (EUAG), together with the Standing Committee on European Integration of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, organized Friday, July 18, a Committee meeting at the parliament. The meeting focused on the vision and perspectives for the future work of the NA Standing Committee on European Integration. It was opened by Naira Zohrabyan, Chairwoman of the Standing Committee on European Integration and Dirk Lorenz, Head of Political, Economic, Press and Information Section, EU Delegation to Armenia. The event was aimed at identifying how the Standing Committee on European Integration could improve its functioning, thus enhancing its role in the EU integration process, a press release said. Ilmars Solims, the EUAG advisor on EU Approximation and Governance, presented the EU integration experiences of similar committees working in EU member states. His presentation also analyzed the current state of play where Armenia’s Standing Committee on European Integration is concerned. Based on this comparison, a number of practical recommendations were made for further consideration. The advisor also presented his policy paper ‘On Improving the Role and Functioning of the Standing Committee on European Integration, taking into account the EU best practices’. The workshop was attended by members and staff of the NA Standing Committee on European Integration, Foreign Affairs and State and Legal Affairs, representatives of NGOs and ministries.
