Alexander Iskandaryan: Turkey needs juicy scandals with Israel

PanARMENIAN.Net - Director of Caucasus Institute, political analyst Alexander Iskandaryan said that one should not expect a progress in the Armenian-Turkish normalization until the parliamentary elections in Turkey. The internal political atmosphere in Turkey will not allow the ruling party to take steps for ratification of the Armenian-Turkish Protocols, Iskandaryan told a press conference in Yerevan.

Referring to the recent developments in the Turkish-Israeli relations, the expert noted that the raid on the Freedom Flotilla will not lead to a war, but Ankara needs juicy scandals with Israel.

“Turkey is trying to change its policy in the Near East, thus, we observe Ankara’s activity in relations with Syria, Iran and Iraq. Turkey needs to damage its relations with Israel to become more active in the Near East and establish friendly relations with the Arab countries,” said Iskandaryan.

He added that, most likely, the situation will worsen, as Turkey wants it. “In such case, the possibility of adoption of the Armenian Genocide resolution by Israeli Knesset will increase,” the expert noted.
