PanARMENIAN.Net - Lawsuit filed by Genocide victims’ heirs against Turkey is not one of a kind.

As an expert Artak Shakaryan told a news conference in Yerevan, in December 1937 Turkish government claimed to have paid USD 890 thousand in contributions to American Armenians. “The list of contribution recipients included 104 Armenians. Strangely enough, none of the persons indicated received any financial means from Turkey,” he emphasized.

“If proved, the fact of Turkey’s violating the international law by refraining to pay off compensation in 1937, might help successful conclusion of lawsuit,” the expert stated.

Armenian-American lawyers filed a federal lawsuit on July 29 against the Turkish government and two banks seeking compensation for the heirs of Armenians whose property was seized nearly a century ago as they were driven from the Turkish Ottoman Empire.
