Hayk Babukhanyan: people lost confidence in Heritage, ANC

PanARMENIAN.Net - Chairman of the Constitutional Right Union (CRU) party Hayk Babukhanyan said it is difficult to forecast which political forces will run for parliament in 2012.

“However, the Republican Party of Armenia will definitely secure a certain number of seats,” Babukhanyan told a press conference in Yerevan, commenting on possible results of the upcoming parliamentary elections in Armenia.

He added that new political forces, which are not represented in the Armenian parliament, will have a chance as well. Babukhanyan noted that the CRU is seriously preparing for the upcoming elections, intending to struggle for parliament member mandates.

Referring to chances of the ARF Dashnaktsutyun, Orinats Yerkir and Heritage parties, Babukhanyan said that they will need greater efforts to overcome the required minimum threshold for being represented in the parliament.

According to him, Heritage party does not enjoy confidence of Armenian citizens any longer, due to internal discrepancies and lack of an ideology.

The CRU Chairman is of the same opinion concerning the Armenian National Congress (ANC), which, according to Babukhanyan, has no a single opinion and stance concerning Armenia’s internal and foreign policies.

Parliamentary elections will be held in Armenia in 2012.
