Bill on NKR recognition to be put to vote soon, says Raffi Hovannisian

PanARMENIAN.Net - Heritage party board chairman Raffi Hovannisian said that, in his opinion, the bill recognizing independence of the Republic of Artsakh will be put to vote during the current 4-day session of the RA NA. The parliamentary group is ready for the voting, Hovannisian told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

“Under the current situation, adoption of the bill will be the best solution,” said Hovannisian, adding that further steps can be defined after that.

For his part, head of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) parliamentary group Galust Sahakyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter: “We dream of NKR recognition as an independent state and diplomatic levers should be applied to this end. In the Karabakh conflict, we have chosen the format of a peace settlement within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group, while a shift in the game rules will lead to a change in the format of negotiations,” said Sahakyan, adding that the authors of the bill on NKR recognition do not speak about it.

Sahakyan added that the RPA parliamentary group is against the idea of Heritage on inclusion of the bill in the RA NA big agenda. “We have numerously urged Heritage to suspend all discussions around the matter and leave the bill in the RA NA circulation,” said Sahakyan, adding that the party has discussed the matter and decided that the bill cannot be included in the big agenda of the Armenian parliament.
