Armenian opposition says it is tolerant towards all political forces

PanARMENIAN.Net - Chairperson of Social Democrat Hunchakian Party Lyudmila Sargsyan said that the opposition is tolerant towards all political forces, even if they make irresponsible statements.

Stepan Safaryan is not answerable for his words, Sargsyan told journalists in Yerevan.

“I urge everyone to forget the year of 1996. If then authorities committed a mistake once, it does not mean there is no need in changes now. ANC is ready to cooperate with other opposition forces, which share its stance on the situation in the country. We are ready to cooperate even with Heritage, which accuses ANC of monopolizing the political field,” said Sargsyan.

Armenian National Congress (ANC) leader, the fist Armenian President Levon Ter-Petrossian must be held politically responsible for the death of 10 people in tragic events of March 1, 2008, the leader of Heritage opposition party’s parliamentary group stated on his Facebook page.

As Stepan Safaryan stressed in his post, Ter-Petrossian should have foreseen the development of the events at Myasnikyan Square, by either being present in person or dismissing the rally to prevent the tragedy. According to Safaryan, in the morning of March 1, 2008 he informed Ter-Petrossian about the gathering of people at Myasnikyan Square, to which the ex-president replied, “it’s not my people.”
