Ruben Safrastyan: Armenian people fully entitled to filing action against Turkey

PanARMENIAN.Net - The issue of the acknowledgement and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide has both historic and geopolitical aspects, according to Armenian Academy of Sciences’ Oriental Studies Institute director.

As Ruben Safrastyan stated at Yerevan-Moscow TV spacebridge titled ‘Armenian Genocide. 96 Years Later…’, “Turkey has serious geopolitical authority both on the regional and the international scale. Turkey refuses to recognize the Genocide. Armenian government and lobby are struggling for the recognition of the Genocide. Armenian lobby is attempting to influence the U.S. policy on the issue. The issue of the Genocide recognition is a geopolitical one. ”

As he noted, Armenian side must use its best abilities to achieve recognition and condemnation of the Genocide. “Armenian people are fully entitled to filing an action against the legal successor of the Ottoman Empire, Turkish government. Coordinated actions will help us achieve our goals,” Safrastyan stated.
