Swedish PMs honored with Armenian NA medal for contribution to Genocide recognition

PanARMENIAN.Net - Members of the Swedish Riksdag Annelie Enochson and Fredrik Malm were awarded with Honorary Medal of the Armenian National Assembly (NA) for significant contribution to the Armenian Genocide recognition by the Swedish parliament, as well as facilitation of inter-parliamentary ties between the two countries.

On April 22, NA speaker Hovik Abrahamyan awarded the Swedish parliamentarians, saying: “You considerably contributed to the Armenian Genocide recognition by the Swedish parliament. Due to your efforts, Riksdag made a decision to recognize the 1915 events in the Ottoman Empire as the Armenian Genocide.”

Abrahamyan noted that the Armenian Genocide has not been appropriately condemned by the world community, though many parliaments and governments have recognized this fact.

Members of the Swedish parliament noted for their part that not a nation or state should treat calmly oblivion of such horrible crimes.

“Turkey should apologize to the Armenian people for the Genocide,” the RA NA press service quoted Enochson as saying.
