Levon Ter-Petrossian: change in Armenian authorities’ position linked to Karabakh issue

PanARMENIAN.Net - During a rally at Liberty Square, Armenian National Congress (ANC) leader Levon Ter-Petrossian briefed those gathered on main factors which caused the recent change in the authorities’ position.

As he noted, the events in Arab states provided Armenian authorities food for thought. Also, the authorities’ compromise with the society’s demands is linked to Karabakh issue. “Obviously, Karabakh conflict settlement might be close, yet, in case the process fails, the threat of Azerbaijan’s starting a new war becomes increasingly real,” he said.

ANC leader predicted serious developments in Karabakh process, with the resources for status quo preservation long expired.

Ter-Petrossian also remarked on increased wave of social protest in the country, which is another factor to prompt the authorities to alter their current policy.
