RA Ministry of Education, UNDP to launch implementation of two joint projects in September

PanARMENIAN.Net - On July 30, Armenian Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan received UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative (UN RC/UNDP RR) in Armenia Dafina Gercheva.

Armen Ashotyan and Dafina Gercheva hailed the continuous cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Science and Yerevan office of the UN, saying that the results of this cooperation will be observable soon.

Referring to readiness of the UNDP to assist the Ministry in development of its communication strategy, Armen Ashotyan said: “It is a very important project, as establishment of a public dialogue and participation of wider groups of population in this process will secure achievement of the desired results in large-scale reforms in the field of education and science. Taking into consideration the RA government’s policy aimed at society’s awareness, such strategy is needed not only in the field of education and science, but also in other spheres.”

Armen Ashotyan also attached importance to another program of the UNDP aimed at estimation of the Ministry’s opportunities, the press service of the RA Ministry of Education and Science reported.

For her part, Dafina Gercheva noted that society’s negative attitude towards reforms in educational and healthcare fields is observed in all developed countries. She added that the programs will allow displaying advantages of the implemented reforms and creating favorable conditions for formation of public opinion. Mrs. Gercheva added that the programs will be launched in Armenia in September 2010, upon arrival of experienced international experts to Armenia.

Mr. Ashotyan said that a new analytical site on study of the Ministry’s opportunities will be created as part of preparation works for implementation of the programs. Besides, educational TV programs and social advertisements on education will be broadcasted by TV.
