Wings of Tatev transported 7,000 people over 40 daysDecember 1, 2010 - 15:23 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Manager of Wings of Tatev passenger aerial tramway Tigran Ghazaryan said that 7,000 people, including residents of neighboring villages, visited the passenger aerial tramway from October 23 to December 1, 2010. The ropeway’s operation in winter depends on the condition of Yerevan-Goris highway, but currently the number of tourists continues growing from day to day, Ghazaryan told a press conference. Head of the Tourism Program of the Armenian Development Agency Suzanna Azoyan noted for her part that 3,000 tourists visited Tatev monastery complex in 2009, while their number totaled 7,000 people over the past 40 days. “I would like to stress that we expect a sharp growth in the number of visits in 2011, as only the world's longest reversible passenger aerial tramway is a separate source for tourism. Tourists arrive in Armenia only to see the reversible passenger aerial tramway, which is unique by its length,” she said. The ropeway launch has created 30 jobs, including 29 for residents of neighboring villages. The average salary of employees totals AMD 100,000. The round trip fare is AMD 3,000, while one-way fare is AMD 2,000.
