Armenia makes successful start at FIBA European Championship

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia got off to a successful start at the 2016 FIBA European Championship For Small Countries as the country's basketball team beat that of Moldova on Tuesday, June 28.

Armenia defeated the rival with a score of 83:64 after four quarters.

Scoring 24 points overall, Andre Spight Mkrtchyan was the strongest among all the members of the Armenian basketball team, the National Olympic Committee said.

It was earlier reported that American professional basketball player Bryant Dunston has arrived in Armenia to prepare for the Championship.

Bryant, 30, was voted the Euroleague Best Defender of the season.

“FIBA allows each national team to have one foreign player, and we have used that opportunity to invite Dunston who is an old friend of Armenia,” chief coach Tigran Gyokchyan said.
