Working groups on construction of highway around Black Sea to be formed

PanARMENIAN.Net - The CIS transport ministers have initiated formation of working groups to carry out coordination works for construction of a ring road around the black Sea, chairman of the transport coordination council, Ukrainian transport minister Nikolay Rudkovsky said yesterday.



The highway will promote trade operation between the states, according to him.



A Memorandum on Mutual Understanding on coordinated development of ring road around the Black Sea was signed at the BSEC meeting in September 2006.



The Black Sea ring project supposes construction of a highway consisting of 2 separated carriage ways with at least 2 traffic lanes each. The extension of the road will make some 7140 km. The route will include Istanbul, Samsun and Trabzon in Turkey, Batumi and Poti in Georgia, Yerevan in Armenia, Baku in Azerbaijan, Novorossiysk, Rostov-on-Don and Taganrog in Russia, Mariupol, Melitopol and Odessa in Ukraine, Chisinau in Moldova, Bucharest and Constanta in Romania, Haskovo and Sofia in Bulgaria, Nish and Belgrade in Serbia, Tirana in Albania, Komotini and Alexandrupolis in Greece, Kommersant daily reports.
