Evgeny Satanovsky: it is inexpedient to trust Turkey not due to its membership in NATO

PanARMENIAN.Net - President of the Near East Institute Evgeny Satanovsky said that Russia has good relations with Turkey and wonderful relations with Israel. “It is clear that not a pipe will go to Israel through a hostile Turkey, as it will prevent dependency on enemy. Turkey, which used to be a strategic ally of Israel for decades, now is joining its enemies. Evil tongues speak about agreement of Turkey and Iran on transit of the Iranian gas through their territories, maybe this is happening due to it,” Satanovsky said. According to him, Turkey has agreed with Iran on dividing the spheres of influence in Iraq when Americans leave it.

“We have good relations with Israel. It is one of the largest innovation centers. Factually, the entire country is Silicon Valley. Consequently, our relations with Israel differ from those with Turkey. As the fields of our dialogue with Israel include biotechnologies, pharmacology, space researches, nanotechnologies, etc., the discussion of which with Turkey is senseless and useless. These are different and non-crossing directions of economic cooperation,” noted Satanovsky.

Besides, he believes that Russia should not trust anyone in the region and worldwide. “Russia can trust only its army, fleet and strategic troops. Meanwhile, it is inexpedient to trust Turkey not due to its membership in NATO. We are not going to fight against NATO. Only geopolitical neighborhood is eternal, while strategic interests are always different,” said Satanovsky.

“Look at Israel, it refrained from supplying weapons to Armenia and Greece in the mean time, explaining it by the strategic partnership with Turkey. How has Turkey repaid for it? Turkey has stabbed in the back of Israel only for political reasons. Thus, tomorrow it will stab in the back of Russia, just like in case of Israel, if Turkey needs its. The Russian-Turkish relations will develop wonderfully, facilitating creation of a regional economic block. However, it will remain so, until we reach our weakest point and Turkey - its strongest point. After it they will make it hot for us.”
