Turkey’s position on Protocols remains unchanged

PanARMENIAN.Net - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Wednesday, April 13 he will not allow for violation of Azerbaijan’s rights for the sake of Armenia’s interests.

In his address to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Erdogan referred to protocols signed between Turkey and Armenia in 2009 to restore diplomatic ties and reopen their border.

As he noted, Protocols contain a stipulation on Karabakh conflict.

Erdogan also said that Turkey was home to around 110,000 Armenians, some 40,000 of whom were not Turkish citizens.

However, Erdogan said, the problem with the protocols could be settled easier if Armenian government overcame its fear of the Armenian Diaspora, according to Turkish media.

As soon as Minsk Group co-chairs, United States, France and Russia come to an agreement, we’ll find a solution to Karabakh issue, Erdogan said.
