  Shushi hosts liturgy dedicated to NKR Defense Army May 8, 2011 - 16:47 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On May 8, as part of solemn events to celebrate the Victory Holiday, Day of the NKR Defense Army and Liberation of Shushi, President of the Republic of Artsakh Bako Sahakyan and President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan participated in Divine Liturgy dedicated to the Defense Army held at Shushi Ghazanchetsots church of Christ the Savior. The supreme command staff of the NKR Defense Army, veterans of the Artsakh Liberation War, as well as guests from Armenia and abroad participated in the event, the Central Information Department at the Artsakh President's Office reported.    The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan broke out as result of the ethnic cleansing launched by the Azeri authorities in the final years of the Soviet Union. The Karabakh War was fought from 1991 (when the Nagorno Karabakh Republic was proclaimed) to 1994 (when a ceasefire was sealed by Armenia, NKR and Azerbaijan). Most of Nagorno Karabakh and a security zone consisting of 7 regions are now under control of NKR defense army. Armenia and Azerbaijan are holding peace talks mediated by the OSCE Minsk Group up till now.
