In spite of the distance between Slovenia and Armenia, the two countries have much in common and have a large potential for developing cooperation, Slovenian President Janez Drnovsek stated in Ljubljana during today's joint news conference with Armenian President Robert Kocharian. In his the Slovenian President's words, the basic problem today lies in arranging and signing a basic package of bilateral documents, which will allow to activate economic cooperation. He reported that he had received Kocharian's invitation to pay an official visit to Armenia in 2006 with gratitude.

«We are very interested in Slovenia's experience in implementation of reforms and EU integration,» the Armenian President said. Kocharian reported he had discussed regional issues with his Slovenian counterpart, specifically the situation in the Balkans and the South Caucasus, the Karabakh settlement and the Armenian -Turkish relations. Having left to Slovenia on an official call on November 21, Kocharian met with President Janez Drnovsek and PM Janez Jansa. Armenian-Slovenian wide composition talks were held. November 23 Armenian President met with Slovenian FM, OSCE Chairman-in-Office Dimitrij Rupel and Parliament Chairman France Cukjati in Ljubljana, reported Mediamax.
