Flick’s iOS, Android apps receive overhaul

Flickr's iOS and Android apps have received an overhaul with a host of new features, Digital Spy reported.

Among the changes in version 3.0 are new Instagram-like filters for photos and videos.

Users can now record a maximum of 30 seconds of HD video with live filters, as well as a selection of editing tools.

The Yahoo-owned photo service has also added a new auto-sync feature, which seamlessly uploads all the users' original quality photos from their phone automatically to their account.

Flickr can detect certain objects in pictures too, making it easier to find the photo you seek, while photo metadata details for camera mode, aperture, ISO and shutter speed are also available.

However, users will now have to sign in to the app with a Yahoo account, as the company has removed Facebook and Google sign in, as part of a wider plan to push users to register for a Yahoo ID.

The Flickr update is available in the Google Play Store and Apple App Store now.
