Jude Law replaces Michael Fassbender in “Genuis” indie

Jude Law has joined Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman in Michael Grandage’s indie “Genuis”, Variety reported.

The drama, co-produced and penned by John Logan (“The Aviator”), is based on A. Scott Berg’s biography “Max Perkins: Editor of Genius” about the real-life relationship between literary giant Thomas Wolfe (Law) and renowned editor Max Perkins (Firth).

Law replaced Michael Fassbender, who was attached to play Wolfe when the film was announced at the American Film Market in 2012.

“Genius” will also be produced by Grandage and James Bierman from the London-based Michael Grandage Company. Tim Bevan will serve as exec producer.

“We are thrilled to have assembled such an extraordinary team around us as we move forward with this project, and we can’t wait to begin filming,” Grandage and Bierman said in a statement.

Shooting will take place in the UK and U.S. pre-production will start in August 2014.
