Ben Stiller, Naomi Watts’ “While We're Young” sells worldwide

Within days of the film's premiere at the Toronto Film Festival, FilmNation has closed deals for Noah Baumbach's While We're Young in virtually every international territory, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The dramedy stars Ben Stiller and Naomi Watts as a married couple whose lives are disrupted by the arrival of a younger couple, played by Adam Driver and Amanda Seyfried. While We're Young also stars Charles Grodin, Adam Horovitz, Maria Dizzia and Ryan Serhant.

“It is fantastic to see the distributor response match all the critical praise that Noah’s film has received,” said FilmNation CEO Glen Basner.

During Toronto, While We're Young sold in the U.S. to A24 films for $4 million (UTA handled that deal). It first screened in the festival's special presentations section on Sept. 6.

The movie, along with Chris Rock's Toronto entry Top Five, marks a prosperous start for producer Scott Rudin and Barry Diller's new film venture, IACF. Top Five, likewise represented by UTA and FilmNation in Toronto, cut a $12.5 million worldwide deal with Paramount following a spirited bidding war.

Foreign distributors striking deals with FilmNation for While We're Young include Icon Film in the U.K., Mars in France, SquareOne Entertainment in Germany, Eagle Pictures in Italy, Vertigo Films in Spain, Village Roadshow in Australia, Kino Films in Japan, Swen in Latin America, Dreamwest Pictures in South Korea and Sundream Motion Pictures in Hong Kong.
