Facebook developing new app for private sharing: report

Facebook is reportedly developing a new standalone app that will enable users to share content with smaller groups of people.

As digital Spy said citing TechCrunch, the app - currently codenamed 'Moments' - is designed to address privacy on the social network.

Facebook employees are apparently testing Moments, which makes it possible to share certain content with certain groups, such as family or close friends, without the hassle of compiling lists or changing privacy settings.

A source told the publication that the app is similar to Cluster, a rival app that lets the user create specific 'spaces' for certain people, in which you can pick and choose who to share with.

It's not clear whether Facebook will eventually make the app available to the public, as some experiments are scrapped later down the line.

When asked about the app, the social network responded: "We do not comment on rumours or speculation."
