“Get On Up” star Chadwick Boseman to topline “Message From the King”

Chadwick Boseman has signed on to star in Message From the King, a thriller that Entertainment One and Ink Factory are co-producing. Belgian director Fabrice Du Weltz (Alleluia) is attached to direct, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Boseman is a hot property at the moment, coming off acclaimed performances as James Brown in Get On Up and Jackie Robinson in 42. Marvel has recently confirmed he will also star as Black Panther in an upcoming film centered on the character, a prince of a fictional African nation turned superhero.

In Message From the King, Boseman will play a man who, on the first day of a one-week visit to Los Angeles from South Africa, finds out that his sister has been brutally murdered. He only has the remainder of his trip to find out why. Boseman will also receive an executive producer credit on the film. Message From the King is set to begin production in Los Angeles in February.

Du Weltz will direct from a script by Stephen Cornwell and Oliver Butcher.
