Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt in Disney Pictures’ "Into the Woods" clip

Walt Disney Pictures debuts the first clip from "Into the Woods", a month prior to the movie's release date. It highlights the main couple, a baker (James Corden) and his wife (Emily Blunt), who gets into an argument in the woods after she lost a cow they got for the witch (Meryl Streep), AceShowbiz said.

As the two are bickering, the witch interrupts them with her blaring voice. "Who cares?" she shouts, "The cow's gone. Get it back! Get it back!" The baker then tries to hand out a red cape, but she says she can't touch it. "By midnight tomorrow, bring me the items. Or that child you wish for will never see the light of the day."

Directed by Rob Marshall ("Chicago"), "Into the Woods" is a musical fantasy that follows a baker and his wife who desperately want children strike a deal with a witch. She promises to give them a child if they can bring her the cape of Little Red Ridinghood, the milky-white cow of Jack (of beanstalk fame), the slipper of Cinderella, and some of Rapunzel's golden hair. In order to do so, the baker must travel into the dark and mysterious woods and battle a Giant who threatens to destroy the entire village.

Anna Kendrick plays Cinderella, Chris Pine stars as Prince Charming, Johnny Depp portrays the big bad Wolf, Lilla Crawford plays Red Riding Hood and Mackenzie Mauzy is cast as Rapunzel. The movie is due December 25 in the United States.

The movie has generated award buzz for Meryl Streep, whose performance as the witch may lead her to enter the race for best supporting role at the Academy Awards.
