Kate Winslet “up for female lead in Steve Jobs biopic”

Kate Winslet reportedly is up for a female lead role in the untitled Steve Jobs biopic. According to Variety, the "Titanic" star is in talks to join the Danny Boyle-directed flick. If the deal is sealed, she'll star alongside Michael Fassbender who plays Jobs and Seth Rogen who portrays Steve Wozniak. Previously, it was reported that Jeff Daniels was eyed to play former Apple CEO John Sculley, AceShowbiz said.

Based on Walter Isaacson's biography, the upcoming film has Aaron Sorkin to work on the script. Scott Rudin, Mark Gordon and Guymon Casady serve as producers. Natalie Portman previously was linked to an unspecified role, but she apparently decided to pass on it. The biopic is eyeing a 2016 release.

Winslet now has some projects underway. She played Jeanine in "Divergent" and is reprising the role in its follow-up "The Divergent Series: Insurgent". Also starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James and Ansel Elgort, the highly-anticipated film is set to be released in the U.S. on March 20.

The Oscar-winning actress also appears in "A Little Chaos", an Alan Rickman-directed drama focusing on a talented landscape designer who's hired to work in the Versailles. It is hitting U.S. theaters on March 27.
