Julia Louis-Dreyfus in talks to star in, produce "Force Majeure" remake

Best known for acting in comedy features, Julia Louis-Dreyfus is taking a huge leap in her career by taking the chance to star in Fox Searchlight's "Force Majeure" remake, AceShowbiz reports.

In addition to starring in, she is reportedly in talks to serve as its producer. The Hollywood Reporter which was first to report the news mentioned there have been neither directors nor producers attached to the project.

"Force Majeure" actually is a Swedish drama that tells the story "of a family staying in a resort in the French Alps. An avalanche threatens the resort and the father, in an act of selfish cowardice, deserts his family. When the avalanche passes and the family is safely reunited, the man's actions create a deep fissure in the unit that might not be repaired." The first film, written and directed by Ruben Ostlund, won the Guldbagge Awards, the Un Certain Regard jury prize at last year's Cannes Film Festival, and was nominated for best foreign film at this year's Golden Globes.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus currently serves as producer of HBO's comedy series "Veep", on which she also stars as Selina Meyer. She's been on the hit show since 2012 and has won three Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy category.
