Yahoo, Microsoft renew search partnership

Yahoo and Microsoft have announced that they are renewing their search partnership, according to Digital Spy.

The tech giants confirmed that the 2009 deal will remain in place, but a number of adjustments have been made to give both parties more flexibility.

The agreement is now non-exclusive for desktop and mobile, giving Yahoo the freedom to alter its search results on any platform while still using Bing technology.

Both companies will be able to generate advertising revenue from the union since ads will be served from both Bing Ads and Yahoo's Gemini platform.

"Over the past few months, Satya [Microsoft CEO] and I have worked closely together to establish a revised search agreement that allows us to enhance our user experience and innovate more in our search business," said Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer in a statement.

"This renewed agreement opens up significant opportunities in our partnership that I'm very excited to explore."
