Muse hint at plans for UK arena tour

Muse have hinted at plans for a UK arena tour before their set at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend, which could include real Drones, Gigwise reports.

The trio returned to the Big Weekend for the first time since 2006 to perform their first outdoor show of the year. The band discussed their summer plans in the wake of their new album Drones being released on 8 June.

In an interview with BBC, frontman Matt Bellamy discussed stage props which were considered too dangerous for their headline Big Weekend slot: "We were going to bring lots of flying things here because the album's called Drones but we forgot about this thing called the law, apparently it's illegal to fly them over an audience, we got all these things made and we can't use them." He went on to say these 'flying things' could still see the light of day, "there are other countries outside the EU which have less law so we'll be able to fly them there. They are going to fly around and film us and the audience."

Bellamy then went on to reveal plans for more UK dates in arenas rather than their usual stadium stomping ground: "When we do our indoor shows because it's a more controlled environment we'll be able to do a lot more so we're going to come back and do an arena tour later this year or early next year in the UK where we'll have some really cool stuff to play with."

The band also revealed they felt 'warmed up' from 'stiff competition' including David Guetta and 5 Seconds of Summer which Bellamy calls: "50 Seconds to Mars or something".

Muse will headline Download Festival alongside Slipknot, Kiss, Marilyn Manson and many more.
