Amazon launches dedicated iOS app for Cloud Drive service

Amazon has just launched a dedicated iOS app for its Cloud Drive service, bringing an iPhone and iPad experience to the service that was previously only available through desktop apps and a recently launched Android mobile app, 9to5mac reports.

Before the launch of the Cloud Drive app for iOS this weekend, Amazon allowed users to access content from the cloud service through various apps such as Amazon Photos (aka Cloud Drive Photos) and Amazon Prime Music. The new Cloud Drive app offers a more Dropbox-like experience, allowing users to view, manage, and share all of the content they have stored in the service.

The new app doesn’t appear to be a replacement for the standalone music and photos apps — they still provide a much slicker experience for viewing content on iPhone and iPad where the new Cloud Drive app is geared more towards file management. Although, the new Cloud Drive app will let users stream music or videos stored in account as well as view photos and documents, 9to5mac says.

The new Amazon Cloud Drive app is available for free on the App Store now. The service does require a free trial and a $12/year or $60/year unlimited plan after that.
