Armenian athlete Tigran Gevorgyan won a gold medal in open water swimming tournament at 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Los Angeles, the U.S. embassy to Armenia said.

Five athletes with mental disabilities from Special Olympics Armenia NGO participate at the competitions in different sports, including aquatics, athletics, powerlifting and table tennis.

Gevorgyan won another gold medal at 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Athens. Armenian Athletes Nona Aroyan, Suren Balasanyan and Spartak Hakobyan also won medals in 2011 Games.
