Investigation into Armenian magnate’s case extended till November

The investigation into the case of Russian-Armenian businessman-philanthropist Levon Hayrapetyan, accused of embezzling $700.000 from ex-Senator Igor Izmestiev, was extended till November 24, Hayrapetyan's lawyer Ruben Margaryan told RIA Novosti.

Earlier, the prosecutor's office refused to confirm the indictment, sending it back for further investigation. According to the lawyer, the investigators first contacted Hayrapetyan on Monday, August 31.

Margaryan added that the investigator also showed him a new edition of the charges. "The difference between today's copy and the previous three is that this time the investigator stated in the decision that Izmestiev’s mother, Tamara Izmestieva bribed Hayrapetyan," the lawyer explained.

Another case was initiated against Hayrapetyan, with the latter accused of involvement in Ural Rakhimov's illegal sale of Bashneft to AFC System in April 2009. After a large-scale arbitration process, Bashneft was returned to the state.
