On the occasion of the Republic Day on Saturday, May 28, President Serzh Sargsyan posthumously awarded the soldiers who fell throughout 2016 while defending the country.

“Our heroic soldiers fell for their beloved ones, for all of us, for Armenia, for the peaceful existence of the Armenian nation,” Sargsyan said.

“Even now, they are doing a greater job than some of those that are physically present. Dear awardees, for us, you are the same heroes as those of Sardarapat, Bash-Aparan, Gharakilisa. One hundred years later, young generations will remember you just as we remember those who fell almost one hundred years ago.
