A memorial dedicated to the memory of seven soldiers from Gyumri who perished during the four-day war in Nagorno Karabakh was unveiled in northern Armenia on Saturday, August 27.
Azerbaijan launched an avert offensive on the night of April 1-2 against Nagorno Karabakh, taking a small plot of land. Hundreds of soldiers and civilians from both sides died until the parties reached a verbal agreement on a cessation of hostilities on April 5.
The memorial has the shape of a tree with the names of the fallen servicemen written on the branches.
Shirak governor Hovsep Simonyan, Gyumri mayor Samvel Balasanyan and a number of other high-ranking officials participated in the opening event.
