President expresses condolences over plane crash near Bishkek

President Serzh Sargsyan sent on Monday, January 16 a letter of condolences to Kyrgyz leader Almazbek Atambayev after an aircraft crashed in a residential area near Bishkek and killed dozens.

President Sargsyan asked to convey his condolences and support to the families and friends of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to all injured.

The Turkish cargo plane crashed just outside the main airport in Kyrgyzstan, killing 37 people on the ground and in the plane.

The Boeing 747 crashed on approach to the Manas airport, south of the capital, Bishkek.

Fifteen people including six children have been hospitalised.
