Armenian parliamentary elections assessed “as entirely not free”

The Independent Observer Public Alliance in a report published recently assessed the parliamentary elections held across Armenia on April 2 as entirely not free, accompanied with gross violation of the citizens' political and civil rights.

According to the alliance, violations in the pre-vote period, the failure of the Central Electoral Committee to prevent and eliminate them, as well as the improper reaction and inactivity of the police and other relevant agencies had their impact on voting.

Also, the alliance said elections were accompanied with numerous violations and were conducted in conditions of mass control over voters.

Elections to the National Assembly were held on April 2, with four out of nine political forces ultimately making it to the Armenian parliament.
