“Simpsons” creator’s new show “Disenchantment” lands on Netflix

"Disenchantment" from "The Simpsons" and "Futurama" creator Matt Groening lands on Netflix. The streaming service has ordered 20 episodes of the adult animated comedy fantasy series, which will be split into two 10-episode seasons, AceShowbiz said.

The new show is set in the crumbling medieval kingdom of Dreamland and will follow "the misadventures of hard-drinking young princess Bean (Abbi Jacobson), her feisty elf companion Elfo (Nat Faxon), and her personal demon Luci (Eric Andre). Along the way, the oddball trio will encounter ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools."

Groening describes the series in a statement, "Ultimately, 'Disenchantment' will be about life and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other jerks tell you."

Cindy Holland, vice president of original content for Netflix, says, "Matt Groening's brilliant work has resonated with generations around the world and we couldn't be happier to work with him on 'Disenchantment'. The series will bear his trademark animation style and biting wit, and we think it's a perfect fit for our many Netflix animation fans."

It also features the voice of John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding and Lucy Montgomery, with animation by Rough Draft Studios.

The first 10 episodes will debut in 2018.
